Tauranga is a city in the North Island, New Zealand. It is a part of the popular region called Bay of Plenty. The city has a history that dates back to the 13th century when it was inhabited by the Māori. The place offers lots of sightseeing opportunities with its enchanting waterfalls, golden beaches, and natural hiking trails. We visited with a friend from Anchorage who runs Alaska Back Care. We had a great holiday in Tauranga with friends and noted below are the destinations we found to be most memorable.
Located on the shores of the Wairoa River, Waimarino Adventure Park is a must-visit destination for family tourists. For adults, the tickets cost $46 and for children, it is just $35. Kayaking is the major activity you would find at this park. Besides Kayak Slides, the place also features a Climbing Wall, Canoeing, Water Trampoline, Tarzan Swing, and Italian Pedalos. The park has facilities like BBQ’s and picnic tables for its visitors.
McLaren Falls Park
McLaren Falls Park is a stunningly beautiful tree park that offers natural trails and camping sites. A botanical collection of rare and beautiful trees is the main feature of this park. The place is named after Lake McLaren that runs through the park. Besides picnicking, you can also engage in fishing and kayaking. The park also houses a disc golf course. There is also a waterfall where you can enjoy the sight of glow worms that illuminate the place after sunset.
Mt Maunganui Main Beach
Located in Marine Parade, the Mt Maunganui Main Beach is one of the best tourist attractions in Tauranga. I would recommend this beach because it is beautiful and clean. The white sand and calm seawater are perfect for an evening stroll or an afternoon swim. People also engage in kayaking and surfing and there are rental services near the beach that offer all the equipment required.
